Dear Isabelle,
Thank you for your letter. I was happy to hear that you've booked your flight. It means that you will be at my house in the next two weeks. My apartment is not quite big but convenient. It’s on the twentieth floor so we have a wonderful view of the city. There are a living room, a kitchen and three bedrooms. It has a small balcony where my mother plants some kinds of herb and flower. I’m sure you will feel comfortable in my house.
There's certainly lots to do in Hanoi. If you are keen on our culture and history, you can visit some notable famous tourist attractions such as Temple of Literature, Uncle Ho Mausoleum, Sword Lake and great museums, namely National Museum of Vietnamese History, Vietnamese Museum of Evolution, Ho Chi Minh Museum. There are also a lot of places for entertainment in Hanoi that you can easily find in the city. Modern and traditional theatres, cinemas, karaoke bars, dance clubs, bowling alleys, and many shopping centres for both locals and tourists. Moreover, you can't miss our unique cuisine. "Phở", "Nem", "Bún chả" are among Vietnam’s most famous food.
I’m looking forward to meeting you in Hanoi soon.
Yours sincerely,

Write an essay (250 words) on the following topic:
These days people in some countries are living in a “throwaway” society which means people use things in a short time then throw them away. What are the causes and effects of this phenomenon?
Suggested essay:
It is widely accepted that people are living in a wasteful society where most products are used for a short time. The causes and consequences of this consumer's behavior will be discussed in this essay.
The primary cause of the extravagant society can be attributed to rampant advertisements available in the media. Undoubtedly, it is the media companies that abuse the commercials to exaggerate the striking features of their new products and fuel consumer's needs for personal gratification, encouraging them to discard old things and buy unnecessary ones instead. The second reason behind the materialistic society is the built-in obsolescence in most modern products. Evidently, an increasing number of manufacturers intentionally design their products with planned outdated features, making them be soon replaced. For example, Apple Inc. constantly launch new versions of IPhone each year with more exceptional features and larger data storage than the old ones.
It is apparent that this issue is likely to have adverse impacts on the environment. As a matter of fact, disposing products after using them briefly raises a vital need of trash processing; otherwise, it will clearly devastate the environment. Moreover, in order to meet the demand of a consumer society, we need to produce more, which means natural resources will get depleted sooner or later. The other problem arising is the worsened moral fabric among individuals in the society. Obviously, people become more selfish and fail to appreciate the value of their belongings in the belief that they are soon discarded. Worse still, parents have difficulty teaching children how to be economical and value what they have.
In conclusion, profligate society results from the overuse of marketing campaigns and deliberate integration of old features in products, causing severe environmental damage and moral degradation among generations.
